Rusty CJ Jeep frame? Don’t worry…it can be saved.

I want someone to look at me, the way that I look at my Jeep.” – Unknown

Every wonder why people love their CJ Jeeps so much?

Jeeps have long been popular in America and around the world. As off-road vehicles, there are few models that have had a longer love affair with owners than Jeep’s CJ model. It’s a classic, sure… but it’s not just about nostalgia. The love that this vehicle gets is based on its functionality and the experience it offers to owners and riders alike.

The CJ emerged as America and the Allied forces brought the second world war to an end. It marked the beginning of a new era and it’s been a mainstay ever since. The incredible styling to the model combined with the strength and flexibility it offers make it an obvious choice for so many people and that’s something that’s never really changed.

So it’s no surprise at all that you want to extend the life of your CJ Jeep and keep it running for as long as possible. It likely does everything you need it to and provides you with a level of performance that you likely wouldn’t get from another model of vehicle. Those rusty frame problems can be overcome with our help, so don’t despair.

The History of the CJ Jeep Model

Right through from the original CJ-1 until the final CJ-10, the CJ Jeep continually developed and improved in a variety of ways. The beginning was in 1944. As the Allied forces brought the war to a victorious conclusion, Jeep was able to pivot away from the war effort and towards the civilian market. This is how the CJ-1, or the Civilian Jeep as it was originally known, came to be.

Later came the CJ-2, but it wasn’t until the CJ-2A that Jeep really found the winning formula. More than 200,000 of these cars were produced for the civilian market. They retained the

military aesthetic, while bringing more of what civilian consumers needed. The CJ-3A and CJ- 3B were produced from 1949 until 1968 in total, marking the arrival of the CJ on the international scene.

The CJ-5 was a success as well, seeing more than 600,000 produced until the end of production in 1983. It saw the longest production model of any CJ, which reflected the strength and lasting appeal of the model. The CJ-6 didn’t follow the CJ-5; rather, it was released around the same time and was a stretched version of the CJ-5 with a longer wheelbase.

The Jeep CJ-7 improved on the CJ-5’s handling and stability, while offering hinged doors. It was in production for a total of 11 years, ending in 1986. The CJ-8 was a long-wheelbase version of the CJ-7, and the CJ-10 was more of a pickup with a CJ body and was mainly manufactured for export to Australia.
